This is the result of a writing forum I created for my students so as to celebrate Europe Day last May 9 . They had to answer the question What does it mean to you to be European ? What about if you were charged twice for your plane ticket because of being obese? This controversial policy some North American airlines are starting to put into practice is being questioned by many people. These airlines often claim that a common complaint from their passengers is having to sit next to an obese person. Obviously this policy has its defenders and its detractors.
